KATHMANDU: On behalf of the Indian ambassador, Dr Kheya Bhattacharya, minister, economic cooperation, laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Gandhi Manomahan Marga (second phase) in Morang district on Wednesday, the Indian Embassy said in a press statement. According to the embassy, Rs 22.5 million will be spent for gravelling the nine-kilometre Gandhi Ashram-Rangeli road and constructing a 42-metre-long bridge over the Mariya Bakaha river. — HNS

Six dacoits held

DAMAK: The Maoists handed over Ramlal Mandal, Hakimuddin, Mohammed Mokim Miya, Munagir Alam, Bhima and Raju Chaudhary, whom they had held on Wednesday for the band’s involvement in robberies and found Rs 31,000 in their possession, to the Urlabari-based Area Police office on Tuesday. — HNS

Call to dissolve NHRC

POKHARA: Saying that activities of the National Human Rights Commission aid regression, chairman of the Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC), Subodh Raj Pyakurel, demanded on Wednesday that the commission be dissolved at the earliest. Pyakurel was speaking at an interaction on ‘Human Rights Activists and Transitional Phase’. — HNS
