Maoists abduct couple

Lekhnath: The Maoists on Sunday abducted two civilians from Kalika VDC-1 of Kaski district. The abductees included Narayan Timilsina, 40, a resident of Lekhnath municipality-7 and his wife Kopila. The Maoists abducted them for interrogation about the death of their company commander Badri Khadka on March 6, it is said. Security forces had arrested Khadka and assistant commander Ram Bahadur Tamang from their tea shop. Khadka died on March 6 while undergoing treatment. — HNS

Three Maoists held

DIPAYAL: Security forces have arrested three Maoists in possession of a bucket bomb from Bajhang district’s Kotdeval VDC 1. According to a press release issued on Sunday by

the RNA’s far western divisional headquarters, Dipayal, those arrested are Prem Bahadur Singh, Bir Singh and Dila Singh. — HNS

Janajatis to hold rally

Kathmandu: The Nationalities and Indigenous Peoples for Democracy and Nepal Federation of Indigenous Peoples are going to organise a protest rally demanding restoration of democracy on March 30. “We have decided to hold a pro-democracy rally and have been holding series of meetings with representative participation of all political parties to make it successful,” organisers said. — HNS

Electricity produced

GORKHA: A micro-hydro electricity project of 10 KW capacity has been constructed in Simjung VDC of Gorkha district, with the grant provided by the Alternate Energy Promotion Centre and the active participation of social worker, Dhan Kumari Thapa. Some 75 households of the Simjung VDC-8 and Sourpani VDC-1 have been benefited from the electricity. The project was completed at a total expense of Rs. 1.4 million of which Rs 700,000 was provided by the AEPC and equal amount was personally donated by coordinator of the Helme Micro Hydro-Electricity Project Dhan Kumari Thapa. — RSS

LAHAN: The Tole Security Committee of Fulbariya VDC in Siraha district has arrested one Rajesh Dahal, 23, a resident of Ladver in Sindhuli district along with the donations he had

collected. He had collected Rs 8,000 from employees living on the premises of the Primary Health Centre, Mirchaiya by imposing himself as a Maoist, and had collected Rs 37,000 by kidnapping Ganga Thapa. — RSS

Dalits’ decision

BARA: The Dalits of Piparadhi village in Bara district have stopped dumping of carcasses of animals. The Chamars of Piparadhi did not dump the carcass of dead cows, saying they have declared not to continue with the job, said Surendra Saha, the general secretary of the Awareness Campaign, Bara. — RSS
