Blast in school

DIPAYAL: Two students were injured when a bomb planted by the Maoists in the Satyabati Secondary School in Bajhang district went off on Thursday afternoon. The Royal Nepalese Army Far Western Divisional Headquarters said 10-year-old Lokesh Hamal of the first grade and 14-year-old Rajan Rajak of the third grade were injured in the incident. The injured have been brought to the district headquarters for treatment. — HNS

Prohibitory orders

GORKHA: The local administration of Gorkha district has issued prohibitory orders restricting movement and entrance into the forest areas in four village development committees in the district. The prohibitory order issued by Chief District Officer of Gorkha, Tara Nath Gautam, restricts entrance and movement in the forest areas at Bakrang, Manamamana, Deurali and Talingchowk VDCs. Forest areas in Nibuwakhara, Amdanda and Ludiserabensi in Bakrang VDC, Abuwa, Chapagaun, Chepantar, Simalgaira, Dhakal Gaun and Dhimure in Deurali VDC, Kewarepani, Chumitar and Silingtar in Manakamana VDC and Chaptar in Talingchowk VDC have been declared prohibited areas. — HNS

NDYO convention

KATHMANDU: The second general convention of the National Democratic Youth Organisation, youth organisation of the home minister Kamal Thapa-led Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP), has been scheduled for March 24 -25 in Biratnagar. According to Jayanta Khanal, coordinator, the convention which is expected to be participated by party youths from all the 75 districts, would be inaugurated by party chairman and home minister Kamal Thapa. — HNS

RPP’s call to Maoists

KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) on Thursday urged the Maoists to immediately withdraw the blockade and general strike and announce ceasefire to create a favourable environment for peace process. Saying that the general strike and blockades should not be used as “tools” to get one’s demands fulfilled, party chairman Surya Bahadur Thapa, in a statement said that such blockades would create serious implications on the people and the country. “The Maoists must withdraw the blockade and general strike keeping in mind the SLC examination,” the statement said. — HNS

Russian CJ meets FM

KATHMANDU: The visiting Russian Chief Justice VM Lebedev met Foreign Minister Ramesh Nath Pandey on Thursday and handed over an invitation to Nepal’s Chief Justice to visit Russia. Pandey said the meeting was fruitful in enhancing the relations between Nepal and Russia. — HNS

Kuwait bound women

NAWALPARASI: Indian security forces on Wednesday arrested five Nepali women bound for Kuwait via Mumbai of India. Tika Gurung of Nawalparasi, Bina Gurung of Lamjung, Shanti Tamang and Chandra Maya Tamang of Dhading and Indra Maya of Gulmi had entered India and were planning to leave for Kuwait for employment after they reach Mumbai. The SSB arrested them from Balmikinagar of Bihar and handed them to New MBC Club and Balmiki Youth Club. — HNS

Lift blockade: NBA

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Bar Association on Thursday urged the Maoists to withdraw blockade. In a press statement, General Secretary of the NBA, Madhav Banskota urged the Maoists to withdraw the blockade and it urged the warring parties to to start process for dialogue. — HNS
