Man killed in blast

DANG: Chhallu Chaudhary (25) of Tribhuvannagar Municipality Ward No 3, Bhaisahi, died on the spot after a bomb left by the Maoists exploded at 7:45 pm on Monday. The bomb went off as Chaudhary tried to uproot the bamboo stalks planted by the Maoists, eyewitnesses said. His body was lying unclaimed on the road as curfew was imposed at 7:30 pm. — HNS

Kedia house bombed

Birgunj: An unidentified group bombed the Kediya residence in Birgunj on Monday. The explosion took place after two unidentified persons in a motorbike threw a black bag at the verandah of Kediya residence at 7 am, police said. The two persons fled firing bullets after they saw the vehicle of Superintendent of Police, Bir Bahadur Rana, heading their way, security sources said. No damages or casualties have been reported. — HNS

Blasts in Dhangadhi

DHANGADHI: Maoists exploded five powerful bombs at Dhangadhi bazaar and surrounding areas on Monday night. Explosions could be heard from 9:00 pm till 9:15 pm, locals said. — HNS

2 killed in mishaps

Lahan: Two people were killed and over six injured in three separate road accidents on a section of the Mahendra Highway in Siraha on Monday. Binod Mahato was killed after he rammed his motorcycle into a stationary truck at Karjanha. Two were injured. Similarly, Satrughan Sharma died after a bus ran over him while he was getting off the bus. Four persons were injured when a bus collided with a truck near Mirchaiya. —HNS

13 houses robbed

RAUTAHAT: A group of armed dacoits looted cash and goods from 13 houses in three VDCs of Rautahat district on Sunday night. According to the police, a group of around 35 dacoits looted cash and goods worth Rs 10 lakhs from different houses in Rajpur Phardahawa VDC-9, Pratappur Paltuwa-6 and Auraiya VDC-4. — HNS
