Royals to visit Solu

ITAHARI: King Gyanendra and Queen Komal are scheduled to leave here for Solukhumbu district in the Sagarmatha Zone on Sunday. The royal couple are visiting Solukhumbu to acquire information on the state of affairs in the district and to listen to the grievances of the people. The king and the queen are currently in Itahari, Sunsari, as part of their unofficial visit to the Eastern Development Region. — RSS

Four arrested

Kathmandu: Police team from Maharajgunj Ward Police Office on Saturday arrested two persons possessing khukuris. The police found khukuris when they conducted a body check of two persons Sange Lama, 15, and Chhiring Gurung, 21, when they were going on a motorcycle (Ba 19 Pa 7181) in suspicious manner. In another case, police arrested two persons on charge of hooliganism on Friday. Wa-rd Police Office Kirtipur said they arrested Rajendra Khadka, 31, and Parbat Simkhada, 25, while they were making noise and disturbing others at the Rhino Restaurant in Kirtipur. — HNS

Two killed in mishap

NEPALGUNJ: Two people were killed on the spot and nine others injured when a tractor met with an accident at Nicha of Mahat VDC in Jumla on Saturday. The tractor (Na 1 Ta 6462) was bound for the Jumla district headquarters from Lamra when it met with the accident. The tractor was loaded with woods. Those killed in the accident have been identified as driver Ranjit Lama and Khadga Bahadur Damai, a resident of Chandannath VDC. Those who were injured in the accident were airlifted to Nepalgunj for treatment. — HNS

Ganesh idol stolen

BARA: An idol of lord Ganesh was stolen from Raj Devi Temple situated at Kalaiya-4 of Bara on Thursday night, local residents said. The idol was presented to the temple three years ago by local social worker Bhola Nath Kayastha, of Kalaiya-6. Three years ago a 190-year-old-idol of Ganesh was stolen. — HNS
