Curfew in Palpa
PALPA: With effect from Thursday, a curfew will be imposed from 8:30 pm to 5 am the next morning in the Tansen municipality and surrounding areas (from Brindaban of the Siddhartha highway to Aryabhanjyang), the Palpa District Administration Office said. The administration has given the security personnel the order to shoot at those who try to violate the curfew order. — HNS
Fog disrupts life
BARA: Dense fog and resulting chill have disrupted life in the district of Bara, the Simara-based Meteorology Office said on Thursday. Compared to Wednesday, the mercury dipped by eight degrees on Thursday, the department said, adding that the maximum temperature stood at 17.2 on Thursday. Due to the foggy weather, a flight of the Buddha Air landed half-an-hour later than the usual time on Thursday, officials at the Simara airport said. The weather is likely to remain unchanged for some days, the meteorology office said. — HNS

CHITWAN: The Chitwan district committee of the CPN-UML will organise a ‘massive’ demonstration in Narayangarh on Saturday, district secretary of the party, Bijay Subedi, said here on Thursday. Couples feted
SYANGJA: Backward Community Development Forum (BCDF), Syangja, recently felicitated eight intercaste couples. Former Member of Parliament Mahendra Thapa had feted the couples. The couples said they chose their partners from outside their castes with a view to set an example and make a progressive society by ending caste-based discrimination. Hospital gheraoed
SILGADHI: Demanding free HIV tests and free treatment for HIV-infected people, about HIV patients and their relatives gheraoed the Doti district hospital on Thursday. The demonstrators, who came from far and wide, also submitted copies of their charter of demands to the district AIDS coordination committee, District Administration Office and the Doti District Development Committee. Their demands include free HIV tests and arrangement of anti-retroviral therapy at the Doti hospital. — HNS

RAJBIRAJ: Candidates vying to contest the mayoral elections have launched a door-to-door campaign in the Rajbiraj municipality area. Truck hits girl to death
Dhangadhi: A child died when a truck hit him at Chaumala of the Kailali along the East-West highway on Thursday, the police said, adding that the truck driver had been arrested. Following the incident, locals blocked the road for a few hours. — RSS
