Two die of poisoning

GAIGHAT: Two brothers of the same family died after mistakenly consuming poison with beaten rice at Hadiya VDC-8 of Khairaha Jhoda, Udayapur district, on Sunday. Dhruva Ram Chhetry, 14, and Netra Raj Chhetry, 7, sons of Ashok Ray Chhetry, were killed after they consumed poison meant to kill rats, police said. There were no elders in the house when the incident took place, locals said. Udaypur District Hospital sources said the bodies of the two boys have been handed over to their family after post mortem. Meanwhile, the body of Kishor Tamang, 21, a resident of Chhorakhu is rotting in the hospital as no one has claimed it. — HNS

New campaign

DHANGADHI: Nepali Congress (NC) Kailali district committee announced the second-phase of its democratic awareness campaign on Sunday. Issuing a statement, committee said new programme would focus on awaring party activists in the district. The party’s Mohana-Karnali Democratic Awareness Campaign that began on November 8 ended on November 15, the statement said. According to the statement, municipal conventions will be organised in Dhangadhi on November 21, on November 24 in Hasuliya, on November 25 in Udasipur and on November 26 in Josipur bazaar. Similarly, regional convention will be organised in Tikapur on November 27 and district convention in Dhangadhi on November 30. The Maoists and security personnel misbehaved with the party workers who had taken part in the awareness campaign, the statement said. — HNS

Gang robs tourist

POKHARA: A gang looted a Japanese tourist, Sayuri Onodera, at Setibagar of Sarangkot VDC on Sunday, ward police office, Baidam, Kaski said. Looters are active in Pokhara for the past few days, police said adding that search for looters is on. A group of three masked armed looters made away with Rs 4,000 cash, two cameras and a Japanese Passport from her, police said. — HNS
