Mishap claims one

RUPANDEHI: A woman was killed and four were injured when a jeep hit a rickshaw in Kalikanagar, Butwal, on Monday. Prem Gurung, the rickshaw-puller, Mohmod Miya, Waki Miya and Ali Miya, who were on board the rickshaw with the woman and were injured in the jeep-hit, have been undergoing treatment at the Lumbini Zonal Hospital. — HNS

King, Queen in Doha

DOHA: King Gyanendra and Queen Komal, who are on the way to Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, arrived in Doha, the capital of Qatar, on Monday. Senior officials of the Foreign Ministry of Qatar welcomed the King and the Queen at the Doha International Airport. Earlier in the day, the King granted audience to Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka. They are learnt to have discussed matters of bilateral interest and cooperation. — RSS

Town panels manned

KATHMANDU: The government on Monday appointed Bicharam Shrestha, Megha Bahadur Shrestha, Iswar Giri, Chuda Bahadur Karki and Sanu Kumar Shrestha as the chairpersons of Taplejung, Okhaldhunga, Kusma Shibalaya, Khalanga (Jajarkot) and Khalanga (Pyuthan) Town Development Committees. — RSS

Maoist arrested

SARLAHI: The police held a Maoist from Dhankaul VDC on Monday. The police identified the Maoist as Laxman Shah, vice-president of the Sarlahi chapter of the Maoist-aligned Madheshi Liberation Front. — HNS

Educational fair ends

POKHARA: The five-day national educational fair-2062 ended in Pokhara on Monday, the Pokhara Chambers of Commerce and Industries (PCCI) said, adding that about 75, 000 people visited the fair. — HNS
