Maoists loot bank

BANEPA: A group of suspected Maoists on Sunday looted Rs 1.7 million from the Banepa branch of the Nepal Credit and Commercial Bank Limited. About 200 Maoists barged into the bank after overpowering the security personnel and looted the amount along with three computers, one rifle and a metal detector. The same group also vandalised the office of the Agricultural Development Bank at Barhabise, according to the police. — HNS

Ex-state minister dead

BIJUWAR: Former state minister for general administration and leader of the NC-Democratic, Shiva Raj Subedi, died on Sunday at the age of 76. He was suffering from asthma and diabetes. He was the resident of Bijayanagar VDC, Pyuthan. — HNS

Drunk docs hurt

NEPALGUNJ: Six doctors were injured when they fought among themselves under the influence of alcohol on Saturday night. The doctors who were attending a farewell party organised for Dr Durga Prasad Pradhan at the Siddharath Cottage suddenly started hurling beer bottles at each other over personal differences, it is reported. Chief of the Bheri Zonal Hospital, Dr Durga Pradhan said alcoholism has won the civilised culture of the doctors. — RSS
