Two killed in mishaps

BIRATNAGAR: Two persons were killed and eight injured when a microbus heading to Damak of Jhapa from Biratnagar hit a tree at Gothgaon in Sundarpur VDC. The bus then hit an unidentified cyclist who died on way to hospital in Dharan. The other killed was identified as Tara Tamang, 42, of Dharan who was aboard the bus. . — HNS

Detainees re-arrested

MAHENDRANAGAR: Police on Friday rearrested 12 prisoners in the jail premises whose release had been ordered by the court on Thursday. The Mahendranagar appellate court had ordered the accused Maoists from Kanchanpur prison. — HNS
