Refugee dies in US
DAMAK: A Bhutanese refugee, who had reached the US under the third country resettlement programme, has found dead in mysterious circumstances in the host country on Thursday. Nandu Kharel (27), who had left the Sanischare refugee camp of Morang for the US six months ago, was found dead in his bed in Boston, Massachusettes on Wednesday, Manoj Rai, former secretary of Khudunabari camp, informed over the telephone from the US on Saturday. Another Bhutanese refugee, Hari Lal Adhikari, had also died there a few weeks ago. — HNS
DEOs meet kicks off
KATHMANDU: A two-day meeting of District Education Officers of all 75 districts across the country is scheduled to begin here in the Capital on Sunday. The meeting will review the performance of the last fiscal and discuss the plans for the current year. "The meeting aims at analysing the annual programmes, evaluating the performance and suggesting ways to improve the programmes," said Narayan Kaji Kashisabha, officer, Kathmandu DEO. — HNS
Three held
BARA: Police here held three persons in possession of weapons from Pathlaiya of Simara-9 on Friday night. The arrested have been identified as Rohit Kushaba of Karaiya-8, Kashi Prasad Timilsina of Haraiya-6 and Birbal Kushbaha of Katariya. Two pistols along with six rounds of bullets were confiscated from the trio. — HNS
