Nawalparasi: Maoists looted seven tonnes of sulphur from Lumbini Sugar Factory (LSF), Sunbal, on Wednesday night. Some 200 armed Maoists looted the sulphur, staff at the LSF said. — HNS

Seven injured in blast
Tanahun: Six children and an adult was injured when a bomb the children were playing, mistaking it for toy, went off at Kilchok of Jamune VDC-6, Tanahun, on Thursday. The blast injured children including Kopila, 13, Devendra, 14, Hira, 7, Kushal, 5, Sudip, 12 and Urmila, 12 were playing with it at Tij Kumari’s house. — HNS
NC-D leaders meet
Kathmandu: The CWC meeting of the NC-D, which was held at the party office in Maharajgunj
on Thursday, decided to hold its national convention in January 2006. This would be its first central convention after it parted ways with the Nepali Congress in 2002. The meeting concluded that all democratic parties, including the NC-D, should initiate a strong movement to “bring back the derailed constitution”. — HNS
196 human skulls seized
DAMAK: The revenue patrol team of the Mechi Customs Office seized 196 human skulls from the house of Mingma Sherpa in Kakanvitta on Wednesday. DSP of the Armed Police Force, Bhakta KC, said the skulls were brought from Bangladesh and were being taken to Kathmandu. — HNS
One shot dead
NEPALGUNJ: A central member of the Nepal Intellectual Council died of gunshot wounds on Thursday. Basanti Lama, who was injured when a group of armed men shot at her at Swagat Restaurant on Thursday, died while she was being rushed to the Bheri Zonal Hospital for treatment. — HNS
