No oxygen in hospital
Rautahat: Locals have been affected after the only government hospital in Rautahat district ran out of oxygen a month ago. The patients are forced to go to bordering Indian states for medical services. Accepting patients with heart and respiratory problems had been forced to return without treatment, hospital chief Dr Ram Shankar Thakur said they were unable to buy oxygen due to the transportation strike. — HNS

KATHMANDU: The King has constituted a committee under the chairmanship of pro-chancellor of the Lumbini Buddhist University and Minister for Education and Sports, Radha Krishna Mainali, to recommend a name for the new vice-chancellor of the university, said a notice issued on Tuesday by the press secretariat of the King. — RSS
Donors’ guidelines
Jhapa: Ten donor organisations working in Nepal appealed to all parties concerned to abide by the duties encompassed by the international humanitarian law and human rights at a programme at Charpane VDC on Monday. Property gutted
BARA: Property worth Rs 136,000 was gutted when a fire broke out in two houses at Feta-8 on Sunday. The fire destroyed the houses of Jakir Miyan Dhobi and Manir Miyan. Meanwhile, an unidentified gang on Monday night torched a microbus belonging to Anand Baidya, a resident of Kalaiya-10. — HNS
Woman crushed to death
LAHAN: Rati Maya Magar, 22, of Jamdaha-6 died on the spot when she was hit by a bus at Golbazaar, Sarlahi on Tuesday, police said. Meanwhile, Jivachha Mahato, 25, of Bishnupurkatti-9 was electrocuted while trying to pilfer electricity. — HNS
1 killed, 65 houses gutted
UDAYAPUR: Twenty-six houses were gutted in a fire in Bhogateni of Lekhani VDC-7 on Monday, said Udayapur CDO. Meanwhile, a person was burnt to death and 39 houses gutted in a fire at Bhulkebesi of Mulkharka VDC, Okhaldhunga, on Sunday. — HNS
Woman kills daughter
DANG: Six-year-old Sarita Chaudhary of Machhai, Dhikpur-9 , died after she and her brother Anil, 3, were given pesticide by their mother Basanta, who then consumed the poison herself on Monday. Sarita died while Anil and Basanta are in critical condition. Basanta’s neighbours took the three of them to the Mahendra Hospital in Ghorahi where Sartia was declared dead. — HNS
