6 Maoists killed in action
DANG: Security forces killed six Maoists in Dang and Kalikot during the last 24 hours. According to SP Bishwaraj Singh Shahi of Dang, Maoists’ district people’s government member Arjun Chaudhary alias Rahul, Bijaya Chaudhary and Indra Bahadur Chaudhary alias Shyam were killed at Okhara of Tribhuvan municipality-3 on Thursday. Minraj Basnet alias Baburam was killed at Manpur VDC-1 on Wednesday night. Meanwhile, Yagya Bahadur Rajaure, public relation officer of RNA’s mid-west division headquarters, said two Maoists were killed in an operation in Kalikot on Thursday. — HNS
Shrestha envoy to Canada

Teen swept away
DIPAYAL: Sher Bahadur Thapa, 17, of Toleni VDC, Doti, is missing after he was swept away by Seti river on Wednesday. Thapa was taking a bath when he was swept away, locals said adding there was no information about him till late on Thursday. — HNS
One hurt in firing
DHADING: A man was injured when an unidentified gang opened fire at a taxi going towards Dhadingbeshi through Malekhu from Kathmandu on Thursday. Prem Bahadur Bhandari, 35, a resident of Kumpur VDC-5, Dadhing, who teaches at the Mulbari primary school, Kaleri VDC, was injured in his left hand and leg. He has been admitted to the Dhading district hospital. — HNS
‘Abductee’ released
Lahan: The District Administration Office (DAO), Siraha, released Narad Bista, who was arrested on Wednesday on the charge of abducting and taking Shyam Kumar, a 13-year-old son of Dukhi Mandal, to India, after he promised to go to India to look for the boy on March 3. In a case filed at the District Police Office, Dukhi Mandal stated that Bista alias Sitte of Ghaletol had taken Shyam to India, promising him a job. — HNS
25 hurt in blasts
Nepalgunj: Twenty-five civilians, including two senior citizens and three children, and four policemen were injured when bombs went off at the Tribeni turning in Nepalgunj on Thursday, Yag Bahadur Rajaur, the public relations officer at the Royal Nepal Army’s Mid-west Division, said. — HNS
