Panel to probe Joshi case

Kathmandu: The Judicial Council led by the Chief Justice on Tuesday authorised the inquiry committee under Supreme Court Justice Min Bahadur Rayamajhi to investigate a sedition charge against Syangja District Court Judge, Chitra Dev Joshi. The inquiry committee was constituted on Monday to look into the case of Pyuthan District Court Judge Birendra Kumar Karna, who was caught red-handed while taking Rs 20,000 as bribe three weeks ago. — HNS

Lightning kills two

TAPLEJUNG: Two persons were killed when lightning struck them at Dumrishe VDC of Taplejung on Monday night. The identity of the two are yet to be established. They, however, said they were residents of Ward No 2 and 3 of the VDC. — HNS

4 suicides in three weeks

Nepalgunj: Four people committed suicide by consuming poison in Banke betw-een mid-March and the first week of April, police and sources at Bheri hospital said, adding that half a dozen people who consu-med poison had returned home after medication. Family feud, drinking and feeling of isolation were some of the factors that led people to consume poison, police said. — HNS
