Computer classes begin

MYAGDI:

Locals have started computer classes in the proposed Paudwar Secondary School from the fund collected from the offerings made in the Khayarbarahi temple at Paudwar village. Some 52 students of classes the ninth and tenth grade have been getting computer education from the 16 computers purchased from the fund, Gyan Bahadur Tilija, member of the school management committee said. — RSS

SHS gaining popularity

PARBAT:

Residents of Banau VDC in Parbat have started to install solar home systems (SHS) by bartering the system with potato. Most of the houses in the VDC have installed SHS. The Alternate Energy Promotion Centre provides a grant of Rs 5,600 and while other commercial banks have been providing loans for installation of the system. — RSS

Programme on herbs

DANG:

District Forest Office, Dang has initiated special programme on herbs cultivation with the view to conserving and promoting herbs that are on the verge of extinction. The office has started to provide saplings of different medicinal herbs to the farmers free of cost after setting up nurseries at five places of the district. — RSS

Iodine awareness drive

BIRGUNJ:

The Salt Trading Corporation Ltd zonal office Birgunj has started a month-long awareness programme on the use of iodised salt. Lack of iodine has been identified as a major cause of goitre. — RSS
