TANAHUN: UML district committee member of Tanahun, Tilak Pande, was shot and killed by an unidentified gang at the wedding ceremony of his neice at Parewadada VDC-1, Hadeyar, on Saturday. — HNS

Pupils, teachers, cop freed:

DHADHING: Maoists on Saturday freed over 500 teachers and the students, whom they had abducted on Wednesday from Salyantar, Gumdi, Agnichowk, Tripureshwor and Jyamring VDCs of Dhadhing. Meanwhile, Maoists released head constable of police Laxman Khati, whom they had abducted from the site of a clash at Sanbire, Ilam, 11 days ago.— HNS

‘Reserve seats for Dalits’:

HETAUDA: At a programme on ‘The role of Dalits’ organised on Saturday by the Nepal Utpidit Jatiya Mukti Samaj (NUJMS), Makwanpur, assistant minister for Environment and Population, Lal Bahadur Bishwakarma, said at least five seats in all DDCs should be reserved for members of the Dalit community. He suggested each DDC nominate five members from the Dalit community. — HNS
