Maoists plant bomb

Maoists planted a bomb on the premises of Shiva Secondary School, Latikoili, on Friday. Security forces were informed after the guard, Roshan Chaudhary, noticed a bomb at the headmaster’s office gate at 6:00 am, said Rishi Giri, of the school management committee. — HNS

RPP meet tomorrow

KATHMANDU:

The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has decided to convene its central working committee meeting (CWC) on Sunday, the party said on Friday. The meeting is expected to prioritise on issues relating to party unity, a party source said. Members of the committee that was formed to initiate unity measures will also inform about its efforts to the central working committee members, the source said. — HNS

Maoists lift embargo

MAHENDRANAGAR:

The indefinite Kanchanpur bandh imposed by the Maoists nine days ago has been called off with effect from Saturday, but the transportation strike still remains, Maoist district secretary Nisan told THT over telephone on Friday. The bandh was withdrawn keeping in view the request made by different organidations, human rights activists and journalists, Nishan said. Maoists had imposed indefinite Kanchanpur bandh from December 23 protesting the incident in the Kanchanpur prison. Nishan said transportation strike is still in effect because the real offender of the incident has not yet been punished. — HNS

24 persons honoured

LEKHNATH:
