Ad hoc justices sworn in
KATHMANDU: Chief Justice Govinda Bahadur Shrestha on Wednesday administered the oath of office to the newly appointed ad hoc justices of the Supreme Court. According to the Supreme Court, the ad hoc justices Sharada Prasad Pundit, Sharada Shrestha, Arjun Prasad Singh, Harijung Sijapati, Badri Bahadur Basnet and Balram KC took oath. — HNS
65 VDC offices locked
Nawalparasi: Maoists locked up the offices of at least five dozens of VDCs in Nawalparasi district on Tuesday. The Maoists have warned the VDC secretaries not to perform their duty from their offices and warned of severe action for breaching their order. Similarly, suspected Maoists have locked up the offices five more VDCs in Morang district, and also forced the secretaries to resign. According to Morang DDC sources, the Maoists locked up the offices of Sundarpur, Haraicha, Pathari, Shanishare and Urlabari VDCs. The Maoists have asked all the VDC secretaries to resign from their posts within three days. — HNS
Villagers capture Maoists
BIRGUNJ: Villagers of Parsa district Sonbarsa VDC-8 have handed over three Maoists to the police after they rounded up them during a clash with them on Tuesday night. The villagers came down on retaliation after the Maoists Sharad Chaudhari (18), according to security source. The arrested Maoists, who were wounded in the beating, are undergoing treatment in Birgunj. Chaudhari’s body has been sent to the hospital for post-mortem. — RSS

School burnt to ashes
Rajbiraj: The Janta Rastriya Primary School at Inaruwa Fulbariya VDC of Saptari district was razed to the ground in a fire on Tuesday. A total of 150 students are enrolled in the school. All the classes have been suspended due to lack of furniture. — HNS
