Two held for murder

BARA: Two individuals have been held on charge of murdering another person. Bannu Roy, 40, and Baliram Shah, 30, of Inrwasira VDC have been arrested for killing Dhanai Ram, 35, of the same VDC. Ram’s body was found covered with towel at a roadside on Monday. Roy and Shah were handed over to the police by the villagers. Police are interrogating them, police sources said. — HNS

Street play on women

LAHAN: A street play was performed on Tuesday at Siraha bazaar to mark Women’s Day. The drama in Maithali language ‘Educated woman: better society’, was put up by students of the local Nabodaya School and organised by Women Development, Siraha unit. Surkhet exam centre blues Surkhet: With their examination centres still not confirmed, some 2,800 students of the district appearing for the SLC examinations are in fix. DEO deputy chief Deepa Hamal of Surkhet said the SLC examination coordination committee would fix exam centres within the next three or four days. She said the District Education Officer had recommended 10 different centres in district headquarters. Citing security reasons, she said no centre would be located outside the headquarters. — HNS

Woman freezes to death

TEHRATHUM: A young woman of Madi, Sankhuwasabha, froze to death following heavy snowfall in the area. She was going to see her elder sister at Jirikheti VDC when the snowfall occurred. According to family sources, she was found lying rigid at the foot of a tree. — RSS

HR activist locks up girls

GULMI: A human rights activist reportedly locked up two students inside a room for 12 hours accusing them of not paying the rent. The students — Manju Panthi and Basanta GM — of Bhajkateri had rented a room in the house of Pampha Pandey at Tamghas for the SLC exams. Pandey is a member of Resunga Human Rights Awareness Organisation affiliated to INSEC. The girls were rescued by local people. — RSS
