Chyangra for Dashain

Pokhara: Local authorities said they were preparing to bring more than 30,000 chyangras — the Himalayan goats — to Pokhara, Myagdi and Baglung from the mountainous districts of Mustang and Dolpa, and from Tibet of China for this year’s Dashain and Tihar. Dr Guru Prasad Khakurel, chief, District Veterinary Office Mustang, said the number of the Himalayan goats would even increase as per the demands. “Some 70,000 such chyangras could be supplied if there will be demands this Dashain.” Last year, such animals were supplied only from Mustang district. He also claimed that the chyangras will be made available at cheaper price than that of last year’s Dashain. — HNS
