Madhesi parties meet
KATHMANDU: The meeting of three Madhes-based parties, which are the coalition partners, held here on Sunday ended inconclusively.
The meeting held at the Sanepa-based party office of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik, dwelt on five main agendas, including VP
Paramananda Jha’s oath, Interim Constitution amendment bill, issue of row over the Pashupatinath’s priests. According to MJF-L leader Ram Janam Chaudhari, top brass of the three Madhesh-based parties — MJF-L, Tarai Madhes Loktantrik
Party and Sadhvawana Party — were present in the meeting. The next meeting is scheduled at the SP’s party office in Singha Durbar on Monday. He said that it was the individual decision of a few Madhesi leaders to withdraw support from the government. — HNS
Attack condemned
KATHMANDU: Nepal India Friendship Association (NIFA) has condemned misbehaviour and attack on the newly appointed priests of Pashupatinath Temple by miscreants. The press statement issued by NIFA on Sunday stated that many Nepali priests are also taking the responsibility of Indian temples and said that the attack over them
is unsuitable as the country was already a secular state. NIFA further added that such attack might have adverse impacts on religious tolerance too. “Such attacks, if not contained, will surely make a difference in the Nepal-India

TU bandh today
Kathmandu: Student Association of Computer Science of Central Department of Computer Science and Information Technology (CDCSIT), Tribhuvan University, on Sunday announced to shut down the university on Monday to protest the “cruel attack” of security personnel on the members of SACS today at the Vice Chancellors’ Office. Sita Ram Khadka of the student body said that the security personnel manhandled and rained batons on them while they had gone to the VC Office to hold talks about the irregularities in CDCSIT. “Eight of our friends have been injured when the police personnel lathicharged our friends,” he said. “Among seven of our friends, who are arrested by the police, one has sustained serious injury on his head due to the brutal police action,” alleged Khadka. —HNS
