14 held with weapons
DANG: Area Police Office Tulsipur on Tuesday night held 14 youths with a huge amount of country-made weapons and vehicle near Tulsipur airport. Twelve others, however, managed to flee. Sharp weapons, iron rods and canes were recovered from the youths. Chandra Bahadur BK (34) of Bijauri VDC, Sitaram Chaudhari (23) of Tulsipur-4, Ganesh Sunuwar (19) and Rikulal Chaudhari of Bijauri-6 and Dipak Pariyar (19) of Manpur, are among those detained. — HNS
Office works halted
SANKHUWASABHA: Official works of all the local bodies in Sankhuwasabha district were halted due to the agitation of Local Body Employees' Organisation on Wednesday. The employees of the VDCs, DDC and a municipality here have been demanding implementation of the agreements they reached with the government in the past regarding their professional rights, Kamal Bahadur Karki, secretary, LBEO, said. — HNS
Teenagers swept away
KAPILVASTU: Two teenaged girls died on Wednesday evening when they were swept away by a flooded stream. Sarita Kunwar and Rama Karki, residents of Nayabasti in Kapilvastu's Thuniya VDC, had been swept by local Bell River at 5 pm. Their bodies were found some 200 meters downstream and have been kept at Shivaraj Hospital Bahadurgunj for an autopsy, police said. — HNS
