Blast at shop, one hurt

RAJBIRAJ: Cadres of Janatantrik Mades Mukti Tigers, a Tarai armed outfit, detonated a socket bomb at a shop in Barmajhiya VDC of Saptari district on Friday night. Owner of the shop Bijay Prakash Gupta sustained injuries while the shop also was partly damaged in the blast, District Police Office said. — HNS


Man abducted

RAJBIRAJ: An unidentified gang of ten persons abducted Bhim Sutihar, 45, a resident of Sakarapur-8 of Saptari district, from his house on Friday night, family members said. Sutihar's kin have urged rights activists, civil society leaders and mediapersons to make efforts for securing his safe and immediate release. — HNS

House looted, 1 held

RAJBIRAJ: Cash and valuables worth over Rs 5 lakh were stolen from a shop in Saptari's Pansera VDC on Friday night. A dozen armed dacoits looted cash, jewellery and other valuables from the house of Gosain Chaudhari, locals said. Gosain's wife Urmila, son Sanjay and daughter-in-law Rambha were also thrashed by the bandits as they tried to stop the looters during the heist. Meanwhile, Kusaha VDC locals held Binay Kumar Ram, a resident of Kusaha-4, along with a country-made pistol and some domestic weapons on Friday night on the charge of the robbery and handed him over to the police. — HNS
