GAIGHAT: A body of a boy who had gone missing since Saturday was recovered from a local river in Udaypur district on Sunday. Body of nine-year-old Bhojraj Adhikari, a resident of Katari-1, was recovered from Sudhajor river, Katari Area Police Office said. — HNS

Bus runs over boy

DHADING: Locals blocked the Mugling-Narayangarh stretch of Prithi Highway following the death of a boy in a road accident at Chalise of Gajuri-2 on Sunday. Rajesh Pariyar (7), a resident of Kumpur VDC-2, was killed when a Mugling-bound vehicle, which was coming from the capital, hit him. Area Police Office, Gajuri, has seized the bus and arrested the driver. The locals obstructed the highway, demanding compensation for the victims’ next of kin and action against the culprit. Police said efforts were on to restore traffic on the highway. — HNS

Supplementary exam

BHAKTAPUR: The School Leaving Certificate (SLC) supplementary examination that began on August 16 concluded today. A total of 93,327 students took the SLC supplementary exams, said Controller of Examinations, Chitra Prasad Devkota. Among the total candidates, the largest number took the examination in mathematics. Forty-six thousand students appeared in the Maths test and 43,799 took English test. Students who failed in up to two subjects in the SLC examinations held from March 25 to April 2, 2009 sat for the SLC supplementary examinations as chance exam. — RSS

Diarrhoea toll at 317

KATHMANDU: The government has put the diarrhea toll in mid and far west Nepal at 317. According to ministry of health and population the disease that broke out over three months ago has claimed 317 lives so far. The ministry said the epidemic was yet to come under control.— RSS
