Mishap claims life

DIPAYAL: One person died while seven others were injured in a road mishap in Silgari on Saturday. A bus bound to Dhangadi from Doti carrying a marriage procession had skidded off the road and fell 50 metres below at IndraChowk in Silgari. According to Police Inspector Dilip Deuwa of District Police Office Doti, the deceased had been identified as 45 year old Laba Shrestha. The injured are undergoing treatment at District Hospital Doti and Sujanga Hospital Dipayal, while Tilak Pariyar who had been critically injured in the accident, was referred to Nepalgunj hospital. — HNS

Transporter killed

Ilam: Talks between local students and transport entrepreneur held to resume vehicular movement on the Ilam-Biblyate stretch of Mechi Highway ended inconclusively on Saturday. The students have been obstructing vehicular movement on the section since Thursday, demanding adjustment and discount on transport fares. All efforts for negotiation ended after a transport entrepreneur, Biru Rimal, was found dead in his room at Ilam municipality-1. The entrepreneurs have demanded the local administration to detain and take strong action against the culprits. They have now called to close down the local market, transportation facilities, educational institutions and industries until the culprits were brought to book. — HNS

Traffic resumes

NUWAKOT: Traffic has resumed on the Rasuwa section along the Pasang Lhamu highway on Saturday. The section had been disrupted for the past five days due to the locals protests over the death of a local Bibek Lama in Chitwan district a few days ago. The locals had disrupted vehicular movement on the stretch demanding compensation for the victim’s family and punishment for the guilty. The traffic resumed following an agreement between the
