Bus runs over student

DIPAYAL: A student was killed when a bus ran over her at Barchhen Inde in Doti district on Saturday. Kalawati Dhami, 17, a ninth grader at Barchhen Higher Secondary School and a resident of Khetali in Mannakapari VDC-2, who was heading to the school to celebrate Saraswati pooja was killed when the bus heading to Dhangadhi from Kheleudi ran over her, Chakra Bahadur Chand, a teacher said. Irate students vandalised the bus. The family has refused to claim the body until the representatives of the local administration and the bus owner reached the site. A team of police has been sent to the site, DSP Dilli Raj Pant said. — HNS

Gang kills civilian

MAHOTTARI: An unidentified gang shot dead a civilian at Khuta Piparadhi VDC in Mahottari district on Friday night. The gang of around five persons shot Rudra Narayan Yadav in his temple at his house in Khuta Piparadhi-2, the police said. The gang had entered into Yadav’s house by digging out a tunnel. — HNS

Robber arrested

MAHOTTARI: Police nabbed an armed robber from Gaushala-2 in Mahottari district on Friday. Raj Kumar Lumre, a resident of Belgachhi-4, was arrested along with Rs 45,000 cash and two mobile phone sets. Lumre was one among the 15 robbers who looted gold, jewellry, cash and clothes worth Rs one lakh from the house of Bechaini Bharati, a resident of Gaushala-2, a few days ago, the police said. — HNS
