NA man kills self

LAHAN: A Nepal Army (NA) man, Arun Timilsina (22), posted at Choharwa-based Ransingh Dal Company in Siraha district reportedly shot dead himself on Friday. Timilsina, a permanent resident of Makwanpur, died on the spot after he shot himself in the chest. The reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained and his body has been kept in Siraha Hospital for post-mortem. — RSS

BARDIBAS: The bandh enforced in Jaleshwor, the district headquarters of Mahottari, entered into seventh day on Friday. The continuous shutdown has crippled normal life in the town. ‘Rapist’ arrested

ITAHARI: Police arrested Krishna Dev Meheta, the prime accused in the gang rape case of a 14-year-girl, from Inaruwa in Sunsari district on Thursday night. Police said the gang had raped a girl after abducting her on the evening of Chhat Pooja and taking her to the house of former DDC chairman Arbinda Mehata on November 4. The police said the four other accused in the case are still absconding. — RSS

Senior citizen killed

DIPAYAL: An elderly man was killed in a bicycle accident here on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Battodas Badi (62) of Latamandau-8 of Doti district, according to the police. Tek Bahadur Rana (45) of Dadeldhura was also injured in the accident. The accident occurred as the bicycle, ridden by the duo fell some 50 meter down from the road at Golmagang of Gopghat on the KI Singh Highway due to break failure. They were heading to Bandungrisain from Gopghat Bazaar. — RSS

Six hurt in mishap

KHAJURA: Six persons were injured after a jeep met with an accident at Udharapur in Banke district on Friday morning. The condition of the two injured is reportedly critical. The injured are undergoing treatment at Bheri Zonal Hospital.— RSS

CHAUTARA: The Sindhupalchowk chapter of the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) on Friday decided to

provide Rs 10,000 to the family of the Dhanusha-based journalist Uma Singh. Singh, working with Radio Today, was hacked to death by an unidentified gang on January 14. — RSS
