Man shot at

SARLAHI: Sajindra Mahato, 30, of Nokelwa-7 in Sarlahi was injured when an armed gang shot at him on Tuesday. Mahato was shot at after he retaliated the gang’s abduction bid, police said. Mahato sustained bullet injury in his right thigh and is undergoing treatment, police added. — HNS

10 bombs defused

BARDIYA: A bomb disposal team of the Nepal Army on Wednesday

defused 10 socket bombs found at Madhuwan village of Dhodari VDC-8 in Bardiya. The bombs were found in a sack in a house of former judge Yam Narayan Dhital. Maoists had seized the house in 2004 and returned it to Dhital later. — HNS

DEO lockout on

SIRAHA: The lockout at District Education Office, Siraha, continued for the fourth day on Wednesday. The Relief Teachers’ Rights Protection Union (RTRPU) has padlocked the office since Sunday, demanding equal salaries and allowances for teachers under relief quota on a par with permanent teachers. — HNS
