Man shot dead

SIRAHA: A gang of five Madhesi Mukti Tigers cadres gunned down 32-year-old Indra Dev Yadav in Siraha district on Sunday night. A resident of Silorwa Pachhabari VDC, Yadav succumbed to bullet injuries at 8:45 pm while undergoing treatment in Lahan Hospital, police said. Disgruntled locals, however, chased and beat to death one of the attackers — Mohit Yadav, a resident of Bilasi, who had also escaped from Siraha prison. — HNS

Headmaster abducted

MAHOTTARI: All educational institutions in Mahottari district were closed for an indefinite period beginning Sunday, demanding unconditional release of headmaster Mahendra Thakur of Saraswoti Secondary School. The Nepal Teachers’ Union, Mahottari, said two headmasters were abducted within a week in the district. Nepali Congress has demanded Thakur’s release. — HNS.
