POKHARA: Sipora Gurung, a student of a local Fishtail Academy, was awarded with Rastriya Bal Prativa Puraskar 2064 amidst a ceremony organised here on Thursday. The award, established by litterateur Sarubhakta, is given every year by Kumudini Homes to talented students below the age of 15. The award carries a purse of Rs 15,000 and letter of appreciation. “Sipora has been awarded because he has bagged several national and international titles in volleyball.,”Ashok Palikhe, member secretary of the award selection committee, said. — HNS

Protest called off

HETAUNDA: The security guards affiliated with Group 4 Falk withdrew the protest on Friday after the Group 4 Falk assured them of providing salary as per the government provision. The All Nepal Security Workers’ Association (ANSWA) had warned of agitation if the Group 4 Falk did not increase their salary in accordance with the increment announced recently by the government. “We called off our protest after the representatives of Group 4 Falk assured us of increasing our salary,” read a press statement issued by Makwanpur chapter of Group 4 Falk unit committee of ANSWA. — HNS

Rabies menace

LAHAN: Dozens of people have been injured from the bite of a rabid jackal in Itari Parsahi, a western village of Siraha district. Over a dozen villagers were injured from the bite in Ward No 7 and 8 of Itari Parsahi VDC on Friday morning. The injured are being treated in Siraha District Hospital.— RSS
