Two killed in mishap
DAILEKH: Two persons were killed when a tractor, heading to Surkhet from Bestada bazaar, met with an accident at Todake of Narayan Municipality in Dailekh district on Tuesday. The Dailekh District Police Office identified the deceased as Raj Kumar BK and Nirmal Shahi of Latikoili in Surkhet, the Dailekh District Police Office said. The tractor helper was also injured in the incident and has been undergoing treatment in a hospital, the police added. — HNS
‘UML men’ thrashed
BAITADI: An unidentified gang beat up four persons at Puchaudi in Baitadi on Sunday. The CPN-UML said they were its cadres. Anu Bohara, Jayalal Dhami, Man Bahadur Dhanuk and Dil Bahadur Dhami were critically injured in the incident, said a UML source. A team of the police has been mobilised after the incident, but no arrest was made, said the police. Meanwhile, the UML district committee suspected the Maoist-affiliated Young Communist League’s hand in the incident. — HNS
Road accident
RAUTAHAT: One passenger was killed and 10 injured in a road accident in Rajpur Pharahadawa Village Development Committee of Rautahat district on Tuesday. The injured are stated to be in critical condition. The police said Ijaharul Dewan, an Indian national, died when a Kathmandu-bound truck, carrying buffaloes, met with the accident. Twenty buffaloes were also killed in the accident. The injured are being treated in Gaur hospital. — HNS
Cultural programme
KATHMANDU: Coinciding with Tihar, Jorpati Youth Concern Club on Monday organised a cultural programme in Jorpati Chowk, where popular singers Ram Chandra Kafle, Avinash Gurung, Bharat Sitaula, Roz Moktan and others performed. Fourteen local musical bands and three singers also performed in the function. Apart from the cultural programme, the club also organised a lottery programme to collect fund to purchase and operate a vehicle to carry corpse to cremation sites. — HNS
13 hurt in mishaps
DHADING: Thirteen persons were injured in separate road accidents in Dhading. Eleven persons were hurt when a bus heading to Janakpur from Kathmandu met with an accident at Saatkilo of Thankre VDC on Tuesday. Two persons were injured when a truck met with an accident at Mahadevbesi on Monday night. — HNS
Trader attacked
BIRGUNJ: Jata Shankar Shah, 40, the owner of Shiva Shankar Rice Mill in Ranighat of Birgunj-12, was hurt when two youths hurled a bomb at him on Tuesday evening. Shah has sustained injuries in the abdomen. His condition is critical, according to Narayani Regional Hospital. — HNS
Microbus hijacked
NAWALPARASI: A gang hijacked a microbus (Ba 2 Kha 1954) heading to Kathmandu from Bhairahawa from Kawasoti jungle in Nawalparasi district on Monday night. Three persons who had reserved the microbus from Bhairahawa attacked driver Milan Chitrakar and helper Mohan Chaudhari with khukuris and fled in the microbus. The police said that hunt for the trio was on. — HNS
