Jackal runs amok
DAILEKH: Three persons were injured when a jackal bit them at Kandachaur of Narayan Municipality-6 of Dailekh on Monday. The injured have been identified as Hema Pokharel (16), Bam Bahadur Lama (36) and his son, according to a local, Rima Pokharel. They are being treated in Dailekh District Hospital. — HNS
Three girls rescued
BIRGUNJ: Parsa District Police Office Parsa on Monday rescued three teenage girls from buspark area in Birgunj. Shanti Darji, Bina Darji and Sunmaya Darji from Pokhara were rescued when they were being taken to India, police said, adding that the traffickers managed

Body found
RAMECHHAP: The body of a 56-year-old woman was found on the premise of a community forest located at Gunci Village Development Committee-1 of Ramechhap district on Sunday. Police said the body of Dhanamaya Adhikary, a resident of Pokharichaur of Kavrepalanchowk district, was found by fodder collectors in the forest. Adhikary had come to her maternal home
in Gunci VDC to celebrate Dashain. “The body was full of blue marks,” police said, adding that an investigation into the incident is underway. — HNS
House gutted
SANKHUWASABHA: The house of Bhaktiman BK of Madimulkharka Village Development Committee-5 in the district caught fire on Sunday night destroying property worth seven lakhs of rupees. NAWALPARASI: To protest the thrashing of a peon of district hospital by relatives of a patient,
health personnel closed all health institutions in Nawalparasi on Monday.

Indian national held
Birgunj: The border police post at Inaruwa arrested an Indian national for possessing banned drugs on Monday evening. Mohamed Asalam, 32, of Dhobini Prasauni of India’s Betiya district, was arrested along with fifty bottles of Fencidyl and two packets of Nitro Vet Tablets during a regular check-up of the commuters. Asalam was arrested in course of his attempt to smuggle the banned drugs from India’s Raxaul to Pokhara, police inspector KP Sharma said. — HNS

Pneumonia outbreak
DHANKUTA: An outbreak of pneumonia has affected scores of children in Dhankuta district. Local health workers said pneumonia patients were flooding district hospital and health centres in the rural areas. Both Dhankuta bazaar and rural areas have been affected by the disease. Cops clash
GAUSHALA: Two policemen posted at a temporary police post in Halkhori of Mahottari clashed
on Monday morning, leaving one of them seriously injured. Babu Chandra Yadav of Bara attacked Dipendra Kunwar of Gulmi with a khukuri following a dispute between the two. While Kunwar sustained serious head injury, Yadav also got slightly injured. They are kept at the Mahottari District Police Office for necessary investigation. — RSS
Dacoits strike
KATHMANDU: An armed gang of bandits looted the house of Kishowri Saha Teli in Bhikhampur
VDC-5 of Parsa on Sunday night. During the course of looting at around 9 pm, the robbers also attacked Teli and seriously injured him. The gang robbed him of cash and property worth
Rs 100,000. A team of the Armed Police Force from the Bhikhpur Base Camp reached the site immediately after the incident. However, no arrest has been made yet. Teli is being treated in Pokhariya Health Post. — RSS
Two held for assault
RAMECHHAP: Two persons, who attacked their 31-year-old neighbour Sujan Khadka, have been handed over to the Ramechhap District Police Office. Locals arrested Baburam Tamang and Ganesh Bahadur Tamang of Bijulikot-2 and handed over them to the police. The duo had attacked Khadka on Friday following a dispute over land. Khadka, who had sustained serious head injury, is being treated in Kathmandu. — RSS
Man thrashed
LAHAN: An unidentified gang abducted 37-year-old Dhanik Lal Yadav from Siswani VDC-2 of Siraha district and attacked with a knife, leaving him seriously injured on Sunday night. The gang abducted and attacked him after he refused to provide it with Rs 100,000 donation, which they had sought from him.
Yadav’s condition is reportedly critical. — RSS
