Girl murdered

KAPILVASTU: An 11-year-old girl was found dead on the bank of Kudahawa Pipari canal in Kapilvastu Municipality-14 on Thursday. According to the District Police Office, the girl was murdered by her sister-in-law Sangita Chamar. The accused has been arrested, the police said. — HNS

Jeep seized

BIRGUNJ: Police seized a Bolero jeep, which was being smuggled in here on Wednesday. The police said the driver however managed to flee. Meanwhile, police arrested two persons along with a stolen rickshaw from Inarwagaun of Birgunj-19 on Thursday. The arrested are Sandip Chuhan of Sripurtole and Shesh Jawed of Birtatole. — HNS

BIRGUNJ: Police arrested a person on the charge of collecting donations from different individuals in the name of Terai Janamukti Revolutionary Party in Birgunj on Wednesday night. Ashok Kumar Yadav, a resident of Motisar-1, was arrested from a restaurant in Birgunj-19, the police said. — HNS

KHAJURA: A herd of elephants destroyed a house belonging to Jamuna Chaudhary at Naubasta-8 in Banke on Wednesday. The herd of some 35 elephants also destroyed crop planted in over four bighas of land . — RSS

ITAHARI: Two persons displaced by Koshi flood and living in the open in Sunsari’s Haripur-2 died of diarrhoea on Thursday. The deceased have been identified as Budhanidevi Khatwe, 52, of Sripur-6 and Mohammad Siddiki, 45, of Sripur-8. — HNS

Mom poisons kids

ITAHARI: Two children, who are seriously sick after consuming poison in Paschim Kusaha-1, have been admitted at District Hospital. Kishani Urab, mother of 10-year-old Sirjana and seven-year-old Niraj, served poison to her kids, saying that she was unable to feed them due to poverty. — RSS
