Rebel cops in jails

NEPALGUNJ: Forty-five policemen, who were involved in a mutiny at the Riot Control Police Battalion in Nepalgunj, were remanded to jail on Monday. Earlier, they were detained at Nepalgunj-based district police office, zonal police office and Fultekra police post. They were sent to jail by the special police court. Twenty-seven were sent to Tulsipur prison while 18 were sent to Kailali prison, Banke deputy superintendent of police Govinda Ram Pariyar said. Forty-nine have been charged with the mutiny and four have been absconding. — HNS

Border sealed

SBAITADI: India has sealed the border points in Baitadi and Darchula districts, ahead of the the Panchayat elections in Pithauragadh district of Uttaranchal state on Monday. The border points were sealed from 6pm on Sunday and the closure will continue till 6 am on Tuesday. — HNS
