Truck crushes one

BIRATNAGAR: A truck with an Indian number plate ran over Bodh Narayan Chaudhary of Madheli, Sunsari, on the Biratnagar Degree Campus road on Sunday. Police have arrested the driver Ashok Kumar and impounded the truck, which was heading to Jogbani from Biratnager. Meanwhile, Mohammad Taped (18) of Morang Katahari died in the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, on Sunday. He was hit by a vehicle of the Road Division Office in Baragachhi of Biratagar on Wednesday. — HNS

20 hurt in mishap

RAUTAHAT: Twenty persons were injured, five critically, when a bus heading to Gaur from Chandranigahpur met with an accident on the Sankhuwa-Jayanagar section of the Birendra highway in Rautahat on Sunday. Of the injured, 12 are undergoing treatment in Gaur hospital, the police said. — HNS

3 killed in landslip

Bhojpur: Three members of a family were killed and two injured in a landslide in Kulung VDC-9. Police identified the dead as Gajendra Rai (45), his daughters Saraswoti Rai (9) and Brihaspati Rai (4). Gajendra’s wife Bishnu Kumari and son Tejendra were injured, police said. The landslide also displaced 13 families and damaged at least 60 houses, according to a local, Ekraj Giri. The displaced are taking shelter in their relatives’ houses and schools. Bishnu Kumari and her son are waiting to be airlifted for treatment. — HNS
