Two die in mishaps

RAJBIRAJ: Two persons died in separate mishaps in Saptari on Monday. Dipendra Barma, 32, of Maleth VDC-8 drowned in his neighbour’s pond while he was trying to pull out a statue of Lord Krishna from the pond, police said. Similarly, an employee of the Nepal Electricity Authority was electrocuted while trying to repair the power line in Rajbiraj. — HNS

Youths clash, 2 hurt

TANAHUN: Two youths were critically injured when two groups clashed while celebrating Krishna Janmastami Festival at Kotdarbur Village Development Committee-5 of Tanahun on Sunday night. Some 20 youths from Ramjakot-7 suddenly attacked youths from Ricing Ranipokhari-7, locals said. — HNS

Two swept away

DANG: Two persons died after they were swept away by rivers on Monday evening in Dang. Rebanta Nepali of Nainawar of Dharan Village Development Committee-7 was swept away by Babai river and Chamunarayan Chaudhary (50) of Laxmipur was swept away by Sisne river, police said. — HNS

Nine hurt in clash

DAILEKH: Two policemen and seven locals were injured after they clashed in Lakandra Police Post of Dailekh on Monday. Locals had gheraoed the police post, accusing the police of thrashing and detaining Ratna Rokaya and Prakash Shahi for involvement in padlocking a local health post. The villagers were gheraoing the police post till late on Monday. — HNS
