Landslide kills two
PALPA: Two persons died in a landslide in Siddhababa of Dovan VDC-5 on Friday. Police identified the dead as Ran Bahadur Budhathoki (22) of Juhangakhaireni-5 of Gulmi district and Ashish Sunami (24) of Thanpati VDC of the same district. The two were heading to Gulmi from Butwal on a motorcycle. Sunami died on the spot, while Budhathoki died in a hospital. — HNS
Abductee’s status
DAILEKH: The whereabouts of Bel Bahadur Baniya (35) of Kunchauk VDC-9, Sindhupalchowk district, who was abducted 15 days ago, are still unknown. According to Baniya’s friend, Dipak, a group had abducted Baniya from a hotel in Murga VDC of Kalikot district. Relatives have appealed to journalists, rights activists and local administration to find Baniya’s whereabouts. — HNS
Mishap kills Maoist
RAMECHHAP: Maoist activist Tanka Sunuwar died in an accident on Saturday. Police said Sunuwar died when a mini-truck loaded with sand and cement met with an accident in Hutil of Ramechhap district. The mini-truck was heading to Chyasku from Manthali, the district headquarters of Ramechhap, DSP Chhinu Prasad Acharya said. Helper of the truck Ganesh Pahari was injured in the accident. — HNS
JE outbreak
UDAYAPUR: At least 12 people have been suffering from Japanese Encephalitis in Udayapur district for a week. The disease has afflicted the people of Beltar, Siddipur and Hadiya VDCs, said said chief of the Udayapur District Health Office Bajra Kishor Thakur, adding that a team of health workers would be sent to the affected VDCs soon. — RSS
