Girl found dead

TAULIHAWA: An unidentified girl was found dead in Ramghat along the Banganga river bank on Monday. According to the police, the head, neck and the mouth of the girl was wrapped with a shawl and kept in a sack. The police suspected that the girl might have been murdered a week ago. Police inspector Hari Badawal said the body was taken to the Taulihawa Hospital for post-mortem. — HNS

Bomb defused

GAUR: A bomb disposal squad of the Nepal Army’s Baraha Dal Company inactivated a bomb planted in the house of Susma Mudwari of Gaur municipality-5 on Monday, police said. DSP Ramesh Thapa said an underground tarai group might have planted the bomb. — HNS

20 hurt in accident

DHADING: Twenty persons were hurt when a truck heading to Narayangarh from Kathmandu collided with a bus bound for Kathmandu from Kakarvitta near the Khatauti Khola bridge along the Prithvi highway in Dhanding district on Monday. Sarita Parajuli of Kathmandu, Binod Maharjan of Lalitpur, Bidur Khatiwada of Ilam, Narayan BK of Terhathum and Niranjan Ojha of Kailali, who were critically injured in the collision, have been taken to Kathmandu for treatment, the Gajuri Area Police Office said, adding that other injured have been undergoing treatment at the Malekhu-based Highway Community Hospital. — HNS

Tuskers on rampage

SANISCHARE: A herd of wild elephants destroyed four houses in Arjundhara village development committee-4 of Jhapa on Sunday. The elephants entered the village from a jungle in the northern part of the district and destroyed the houses of Man Bahadur, Lal Bahadur, Buddhi Bahadur and Bir Bahadur Bhandari. The four families have taken refuge in their relatives’ houses. The elephants also destroyed crops in over six bigahs of land. — RSS

Mishap claims youth

JANAKPURDHAM: Twenty-six year old Sunita Devi of Dhanushadham was killed when a tractor

and a truck collided at Hariharpur village development committee of Dhanusha district on Monday morning. Tractor driver Parva Mahato was seriously injured in the accident. Following the mishap, the truck driver has been absconding. — RSS

Viral influenza

BARDIBAS: Viral influenza has broken out in rural areas of Mohattari district, including in district headquarters Jaleshwor. The District Hospital said the disease has spread in 50 village development committees. Doctor Raj Kishor Pandit said some 100 patients suffering from the disease visit hospital daily. The disease spread because of the rain and maximum temperature. Most of the patients are under 5 years of age. — RSS

MAHOTTARI: A 20-year-old woman was killed when a tractor collided with a truck near Dhalkebar in Dhanusha district on Monday. Sunita Devi Mahato of Govindapur died on the spot in the accident, deputy superintendent of police at Chhinnamasta Battalion Sita Sharan

Buildings collapse

DAILEKH: Three school buildings collapsed in Kanchikadh village development committee of Dailekh district on Monday after torrential rain. The buildings of Bhagawati Primary School in Ward No 3, Saraswoti Primary School in Ward No 6 and Kailash Primary School Ward No 7 collapsed following the rain, said headmaster of the Bhagwati primary school Ganesh Shahi.
