One killed, 12 hurt

MAHOTTARI: One person was killed and 12 were injured when a jeep carrying members of a marriage party met with an accident in Maisthan-6 of Mahottari on Saturday. Krishna Raut, 50, of Rautahat’s Jingariya died while undergoing treatment in Dharan on Sunday, the police said. Critically injured jeep-owner Mohamed Jamsad and driver Shesh Sarif were being treated in Dharan, while bride Sangita, including nine others, were admitted to Lalgarh Hospital. — HNS

Bird flu alert

SIRAHA: The Siraha District Livestock Office on Sunday declared 10 places in the district, which share border with India, bird flu-prone zones. Speaking at a programme organised by the DLO on Sunday, senior livestock development officer Mahinarayan Chaudhari said Siraha and Lahan municipalities and Sonamati Majhaura, Bariyarpatti, Itatar, Mawarajpur, Madar, Chikana, Lagadigoth and Inarwa VDCs of the district have been declared bird flu-prone zones. — HNS
