Headmaster killed

JANAKPUR: A gang shot dead 50-year-old headmaster of a Hariharpur VDC-based primary school, Bindeshwor Mahato, in Dhanusha district on Sunday. The gang abducted Mahato from the school and gunned him down at Hariharpur-3, the police said. The gang also beat up teacher Kapil Dev Shah, who was with Mahato, and seized Mahato’s bike. — HNS

Truck-hit kills one

DHULIKHEL: One person died and three others were injured when

a mini truck heading to Jalbire from Banepa hit them at Athhaiskilo of Dhulikhel municipality-7 on Sunday. The dead was identified as Lahadorje Lama, 30, of Madankundari-3.

Injured Champa Dahal of Dhulikhel-7, Jhamka Prasad Dahal of Banepa-11 and Samati Thami of Bhimeshwor-9 are being treated in the Dhulikhel Hospital. The Araniko Highway, which was halted to protest the death, was reopened after the truck owner agreed to provide Rs 3.5 lakh

Strike hits Dang

DANG: Life in Dang district remained crippled on Sunday due to chakkajam enforced by transporters. Following the strike, vehicles bound for destinatioins, including Kathmandu, Birgunj, Bhairahawa, Butwal, Hetauda, Rolpa, Rukum and Salyan, remained off the road. Motorcycles and bicycles also did not ply. However, dairy farmers were allowed to ferry their products. — HNS
