Dam collapses

DAILEKH: A reservoir of the 5 KV Ramaghat power project at Saktala VDC 1 of Dailekh district collapsed due to incessant rainfall, causing inundation in the area. Power supply has been disrupted and two households have been displaced from Ramaghat. Eighty-three houses in Ramaghat Bazaar have been deprived of electricity, said a local Nai Singh Shahi. Traffic on the Karnali highway was disrupted due to the inundation. —HNS

Abductee found dead

CHANDRANIGAHPUR: A cattle trader, who was abducted from Rajpur Bhediyahi VDC of Rautahat district on Tuesday, was found dead on Wednesday, the police said. Five armed persons had abducted Shekh Nursad Alam from Sarmujawa village while he was returning from the Garuda bazaar. His body was found on the bank of the Jhajh river at Pachrukhi VDC-5. —HNS
