Journos attacked

Bhojpur: Pro-CPN-UML All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (ANNFSU) member and Free Students’ Union Bhojpur Multiple Campus president Dhruvraj Rai assaulted Federation of Nepali Journalists Bhojpur district president Shahiman Rai and four other journalists on Wednesday. A meeting of the district FNJ chapter was going on in the chamber of the district FNJ president when an inebriated Rai barged in and accused the journalists present of not acknowledging his contributions and attacked them. Along with Shahiman Rai, FNJ vice-president Gyanendra Khadka, secretary Niroj Koirala, joint secretary Eksan Rai and FNJ central member Shyam Krishna Dahal suffered injuries. —HNS

One shot at

KATHMANDU: Sagun Shrestha of Gatthaghar was injured in a shooting at the Manohara area on Wednesday evening. Shrestha, who was shot at by one Anil Hepka, is undergoing treatment at the B&B hospital, Lalitpur. “Anil had beaten up Sagun a month ago. Shrestha got shot when he tried to attack Anil,” DSP at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Thimi, Birendra Shrestha, said. — HNS

Ramhari death probe

KATHMANDU: The Civil Society Probe Team headed by Basudev Devkota on Wednesday said the UN Mission in Nepal, the CPN-Maoist, Bharatpur Medical College and security personnel were equally responsible for the killing of businessman Ramhari Shrestha. Shrestha was beaten to death in the third division cantonment of the CPN (Maoist) at Chitwan on May 13. — HNS

Six hurt in clash, blast

Tanahun: Four persons were hurt when a contractor’s gang clashed with YCL cadres on Wednesday. Bishwo Shrestha and Ganesh Thapa of Byas municipality and YCL cadres Ramu Lamsal and Raju KC were injured. The clash erupted following a row over registration of bridge tender at the Western Divisional Road Office. Meanwhile, two women were hurt when a mine planted by the Army went off in Manthali. —HNS
