Palpa/Nawalparasi: Two persons were killed and 55 were injured when a bus met with an accident at Jogikuna of Palpa. Lila Saru, 11, of Jhadewa-6 and KB Adhikari, 60, of Rupse-3 were killed, police said, adding among the 55 injured, condition of 11 was critical. In Nawalparasi, 18 persons were hurt when a passenger bus turned turtle at Damauli in Narayangarh-Kawasoti road on Sunday.— HNS

NC-Maoist tiff

KAPILVASTU: CPN-Maoist cadres, Bhakti Prasad Kandel and Rajaram Tharu, thrashed NC Mahendrakot VDC member, Kamal Prasad Mishra, in Kapilvastu on Sunday reasoning that he didn’t vote for the CPN-Maoist. The district NC unit issued a statement condemning the incident and said that “the Maoists had not changed their behaviour”. — HNS

Two abducted

DHADING: CPN-UML cadres Prem Bahadur Tamang and Lal Bahadur Tamang have been abducted from Ree VDC, the UML district unit said. UML district committee member Krishna Prasad Aryal claimed YCL cadres abducted the duo from their home and their whereabouts were unknown. YCL district chairman Mana Raj Bhandari said they were not abducted, but were taken under control to enquire about the attack on YCL cadres. — RSS

Govt staffer abducted

SIRAHA: An armed gang abducted a government employee in Siraha on Saturday night. The gang kidnapped Shreeram Karki, khardar at the office of survey in Sarlahi, while he was sleeping in his house at Silowarpachhari-2, locals said. —HNS

Ambulance attacked

PYUTHAN: A group of seven Maoist cadres vandalised a Nepal Red Cross ambulance and also beat up driver Durgesh Gharti on Saturday night in Dharmawati VDC of Pyuthan. Gharti, who suffered head injuries, was thrashed when he failed to stop the ambulance at their bidding. The hospital said Maoists tried to pressure the hospital management not to treat Gharti. The matter was settled after the Maoist group agreed to pay for damages to the vehicle, compensation to the driver. — HNS
