Maoist cadres

Kalikot: Activists of the Youth Force severely beat up Maoist cadres in Pankha VDC of Kalikot district on Saturday afternoon. The Maoist cadres were beaten up following a heated discussion between the two factions that ensued after the YF cadres accused the Maoists of forcefully taking villagers to their programmes. Two Maoist cadres, district committee member Samante Pariyar, 41, and Dhana Pariyar, village committee member were injured in the incident. They are undergoing treatment in Manma district hospital. "Youth Force cadres suddenly appeared from nowhere and attacked us while we were returning from YCL's programme," injured Dhana Pariyar said. However, district coordinator of Youth Force Durga Shahi refuted the charge. He said, "We just retaliated after the Maoist cadres threatened and forced our activists to go to the YCL's programme." — HNS
