NC cadre thrashed

BHOJPUR: A group of Maoist cadres, led by Maoist area no 1 secretary Bibash, beat up a NC cadre Ganesh Budathoki in Kulung VDC of Bhojpur district on Friday. The Maoist cadres said they attacked Budathoki in retaliation for the death of a Maoist cadre in police firing at the alleged behest of NC on Wednesday in Solukhumbu district. — HNS

Deal among parties

KHOTANG: The Khotang district units of political parties on Friday reached an understanding not to disturb one another or disrupt each other’s poll campaign. At the meeting chaired by Khotang CDO Kamal mani Kafle, the parties also agreed not to criticise one another anymore, NC Khotang district secretary Mahendra Katwal said. The parties agreed to implement the understanding at all levels in the district. Signatory parties included Katwal, UML’s Parshu Ram Karki, Maoist’s Udim Rai, Janmorcha Nepal’s Lila Bajimay and CPN-Unified’s Min Prasad Acharya. — HNS

Candidate mistreatedo

RAUTAHAT: A team of civil and armed police personnel raided the house of independent candidate from constituency no 1 in Rautahat, Baban Singh, at Bramhapur village development committee and mistreated him on Thursday night. Police said that Singh’s house was raided as he was charged with involvement in various cases. Singh claimed that security personnel beat his family members. Armed police force SP Ram Krishna Lama, however, denied Singh’s accusation. — HNS

Govt’s denial

KATHMANDU: The Government of Nepal has unequivocally denied news reports regarding purported activities of the security agencies of the People’s Republic of China inside the territory of Nepal in the border area. Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said the reports were completely untrue, groundless and a pre-meditated attempt to malign Nepal’s image. — RSS

SP cadre killed

ITAHARI: A Sadbhawana Party cadre, Gulab Singh Khawas of Chandbela-6 in Sunsari, was allegedly hacked to death on Thursday by MJF cadres. SP’s Sunsari president Surait Yadav said three MJF cadres killed Khawas, a member of SP’s youth wing Nepal Yuva Manch, while he was at his house. MJF eastern zone coordinator SN Meheta said those involved in the murder were not MJF cadres. — HNS

Complaint rejected

Khotang: The Solukhumbu district police office on Friday refused to register a complaint of the Maoists against NC leader Bal Bahadur KC, chief district officer Shree Krishna Shrestha and ASI Hari Ghimire, alleging that they were responsible for the death of Maoist cadre in police firing. But DSP Pradip Raj Acharya refused, saying the government had already formed a team to investigate into the incident. — HNS
