POKHARA: The Tourist Police nabbed an Austrian national for possessing chares at Lake Side here on Friday. Raendal Herbert, 35, was arrested by a team of tourist police, the Kaski district police office said, adding two packets of chares were seized from him. Herbert, who arrived in Nepal on February 6, had already visited Nepal for five times. He has bought chares to send to Austria, said the source, quoting him as saying. — HNS

Body exhumed

SYANGJA: Police, on the suspicion that relatives had a hand in the killing a woman of Kurumpa village development committee, exhumed her body on Thursday. Maya Kunwar, 32, was buried on January 26. The dead body was exhumed at the request of Devi Kalika Ama Samuha of Putalibazaar Municipality-2 and women rights activists, said chairperson of the Devi Kalika Ama Samuha Sharada Parajuli. “Late Kunwar was buried in full attire, which is against the Hindu tradition,” Parajuli said. The Ama Samuha, expressing its suspicion that Kunwar was killed by her husband and hurriedly buried, filed a complaint at the police office to investigate the case. — HNS
