10 held with hashish

BIRGUNJ: Police arrested 10 persons on Wednesday with four bagfuls of hashish and a hand-made gun from Kanchanpur Tole in Sonbarsa VDC-7 of Parsa. Inspector Pashupati Dotel-led team from the Parsa DPO searched the houses of Aariph Miya and Molajim Miya in Kanchanpur and arrested them, along with Indrajit Paswan and Hadiya Miya of the district, Dhading’s Tek Bahadur Tamang, Hari Bahadur Tamang, Krishna Bahadur Tamang, Ambar Bahadur Tamang and Sugrib Thing and Phurbe Dorje Lama of Makawanpur. Police also seized four bullets and 200 kg powder used to make charas. — HNS

71 cops penalised

Itahari: As many as 71 APF personnel, including an SP, were punished for working against the code of conduct in the last seven months, said the APF’s eastern regional headquarters. According to the headquarters, SP Sandip Shrestha, DSP Drona Bista, inspectors Samir Gautam, Rudra Mani Pradhan, Bal Krishna Shrestha, Bhim Karki, Tarik Chand Chaudhary and Yagya Bahadur Basnet were penalised. Seventeen junior officers were also punished. SP Prahlad KC and DSP Bhim Thapa were among those rewarded for discharging their duties honestly and efficiently. — HNS
