KATHMANDU: Universal Peace Federation-Nepal has asked the government to investigate into the bomb blast at Assumption Church in Bhanimandal. Issuing a press statement on Monday, it demanded strong action against the culprits involved in the blast and said the attack was an attempt to disturb religious harmony in the country. — HNS


Nepal congratulated

KATHMANDU: The United Nations Mission in Nepal on Monday congratulated Madhav Kumar Nepal for being elected as the second Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal. Issuing a press release, UNMIN Chief Karin Landgren called on all parties to forge consensus in order to take the peace process to a logical conclusion, to draft the new constitution and to address the future of the PLA combatants. — HNS


Huge hashish haul

KATHMANDU: An anti-drugs squad of the Narcotic Drug Control Law Enforcement Unit, New Baneshwor, arrested an alleged drug trafficker with a truck load of hashish on Monday. Ram Lama, 30, a resident of Agra VDC of Makawanpur was arrested, along with 452 kg of hashish. The squad arrested him from Thankot VDC in Kathmandu around 5:00 am, acting on a tip-off by an unidentified source. Lama was made public at a press conference in the capital. — HNS
