Blasts rock Siraha

SIRAHA: JTMM-J cadres detonated bombs and staged torch rallies in different places of Siraha on Monday night. JTMM-J cadres, protesting the CA polls, detonated bombs at Kusha and Sonapur. However, there were no causalties, a JTMM-J source said. Torch rallies were staged at different places, including Chhaparadi, Sonpur and Chhajana, JTMM-J district in-charge Toophan said. — HNS

Student ‘kills self’

DHARAN: Abijeet Sinha, 27, a final year student of MBBS at the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) was found dead on Monday night. Sinha, who was found unconscious in his room in the hostel, died while being rushed for treatment, a BPKIHS source said, adding that he committed suicide by consuming drugs after he fared badly in the exams. Sinha was studying in the BPKIHS under the quota for Indian students. — HNS

Eye flu spreads

Phidim: Scores of schoolchildren in Panchthar district have been infected with conjunctivitis since the last one week. The disease has spread in the district headquarters, Phidim, the adjoining Jorsal village and most of the villages in Pallotar VDC. Most of the students in the Phidim bazaar have fallen victims to the disease. — HNS

Politician dead

RAJBIRAJ: A Saptari-based politician, Chandra Narayan Chaudhari, passed away in his home in Rajbiraj-7 on Monday night. He was 74 and suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure, a family source said. He was a council member of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, former president of the Saptari DDC. He is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter. — HNS

Truck-hit kills one

RAJBIRAJ: Satya Narayan Paswan, 26, of Bagdama-2 of Saptari district was killed when a truck hit him at Bagdama along Mahendra Highway on Monday night. Locals disrupted traffic on Tuesday morning seeking compensation for the victim’s family. — HNS
